Admiral Scorch Needs an Avatar!

It's been noted that our fearless leader doesn't have an avatar to call his own on our forums so we thought that we'd give our community a chance to remedy that situation and design him one!

Here's the deal –

The Contest Starts today Monday, July 21, 2008 and ends two weeks from Today August 4th, 2008 at which point all entries will be judged. The winner will receive a special forum title; a beta key and a special goodie pack.

Enter here on our forums!

The Rules –
  • All entries must be 100x100 pixels or less
  • All entries must be relevant to both Scott Brown and his Jumpgate Evolution persona (Hence the Admiral Scorch title)
  • All entries must be rated PG. Anything relating to inappropriate topics will be deleted and disqualified.
  • All entries must be either .jpg or .gif format.
  • All entries must be posted into this thread; if you need to upload your design somewhere you can use a free image uploading website such as www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.us
The Winner will be announced Friday August 8, 2008 by 3pm MST (Mountain Standard Time) / 10pm BST (British Standard Time).

Good luck and have fun!

Some video walkthroughs revealed

Gametrailers.com sat down with Tim Hodges, Associated Product Manager of Jumpgate Evolution at E3 for a walkthrough of the game in its current form and has compiled a two-part video as a result. The video primarily explores the landscapes and combat in Jumpgate.

Head on over to Gametrailers.com to check them out;

Part one of the video walkthrough
Part two of the video walkthrough

What is interesting apart from the gameplay, is the quote "scheduled for release Spring 2009"- so it sounds like we have a new date for full release.  Which is fine by me, as I thought it was getting a bit late to release this year (no closed beta yet even)

JGE Guild beta sign-ups

Netdevil/Codemasters are now accepting 'Guild applications' for the Beta's. So if you have a budding JGE guild ready to roll, or are thinking of creating one, you can sign up on the official site; http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/news_article.php?id=1941
It looks like you can enter the e-mail addresses of the members of your guild - so pre-signing up your members.

That can only mean the closed beta gets closer and closer :)

NDA's in full effect obviously - so my lips are sealed!

New Beta sign-up process

An open letter from Netdevil about their new website and the beta sign-up process

"You will have noticed by now that wehave launched a fresh new website and forums through our publisher Codemasters Online's existing web space. We've done this for numerous reasons, but the most exciting of course is that we're getting ready for the testing process. We know that this may create some confusion for our existing fanbase, so we wanted to send out a letter to help you through the new registration process and address any concerns that you may have.

In order to prepare for this testing process we need everyone to re-sign up to Beta. We know that this is inconvenient for a lot of you, but we feel that by using the CodeM system, we'll be able to better select from our pool of applicants. We all want Jumpgate Evolution to be an incredible game and believe that by using this system, the process will go more smoothly."

New look official JGE website

New look official JGE website

If you've not been over to the official Jumpgate Evolution website recently, maybe it's time you did, as they've given it a band new lick of paint!

It appears to me as if the site has transfered into the control of Codemasters (as they are the official publishers of the game now), and they have launched a brand new website to celebrate.

BAD NEWS appears to be the old forums are now closed - but the GOOD NEWS is that brand new shiny forums are now open, which are part of the larger Codemaster forum site. Soa single login works across Codemasters games (good news if you were a LotrO sign-up like myself).

Hopefully this is a sign that the game is moving on, and Netdevil are leaving the website stuff to Codemasters while they concentrate on the game! :)

UPDATE: I am currently working on transfering the hosting of this (and probably other) sites I run to a dedicated server, as the performance has not been good enough!  So you may notice a break in service at some point...

Krispy.

New name and Facelift for site

We have a name!

Hi all, I'm Krispy, your fellow pilot and sometime webmaster :)

Some of you probably already know that I run the Madhouse Tavern, THE LotrO fansite. So I thought I'd open up another bar in another universe, and so this is my site, the now re-named; Quasar Bar, and we have now officially opened to all the budding pilots like yourselves (oh and the old vets from JGC of course!).

UPDATE: I have moved this site to a new dedicated server, so it should run MUCH faster now. Please let me know if there are any issues you find with it!

The Rainbow Hair Contest

It looks like NetDevil are running a fun (and worthwhile!) competition...

"Have you ever wanted to truly affect the life of a developer? Now is your chance. I’ve brutally forced both NeoSpider and Nikaji to sacrifice themselves for the betterment of our community and they are submitting their hair color for the greater good."

They have put up two photo's of two of the JGE developers, and want to you photoshop their hair colour to something new and exciting :)  The 'victims' are Nikaji and neoSpider .

So get over to the Netdevil site and get entering! :)

News on Jumpgate Classic billing

News on Jumpgate Classic billing

I've had the following news passed on to me - I'll try and check it out and confirm - but the good news for those who've not tried the old Jumpgate Classic game is that the free trial is now 14 days, and does NOT require a credit card... I would guess it is a way for Netdevil to allow more people to at least have a quick go (and get the bug) of the original game, so to wet the appitite for the upcoming epic. That's just my view of course... news below:

NetDevil is pleased to announce the launch of a new billing system for Jumpgate Classic and other NetDevil products. Our new system dramatically streamlines and modernizes all billing operations and is expected to improve our customer service response by internalizing the Jumpgate billing process to NetDevil.

Better Features

For the Jumpgate Classic community specifically, the NetDevil billing system also enables the following long-requested features:

- Simplified account reactivations
- Choices for billing period length
- Easy password changing and lost password retrieval
- No credit card requirement for Free Trial
- Free Trial period lengthened to 14 days
